Sucker Punch’s Nate Fox has said that the reason electricity was chosen as Cole’s super power for inFamous is because it worked well for both ranged and close combat.
“We wanted to give you powers that worked well in a video game context, and video games are really good for shooting things, ranged combat,” he told Joystiq. “So we figured we’d have a lot of that in the game, and electricity was a good marriage to that because shooting a lightning bolt into somebody’s face is something that everybody understands.
“But what really, really sealed the deal was that… It was a superhero game, it has to take place in a city, and by making electricity, we could actually have him interact with the city’s power grid in a very meaningful way so that he had a real relationship with the city. It was his food, it was the source of his power. So the city he was fighting for also nourished him, so that seemed really good.”
There ya have it.

Sony’s swooped to allay fears of inFamous erring on the side of conciseness after creative director, Nate Fox, intimated last week that the game will be relatively short.
“inFamous is still in development at Sucker Punch,” said a spokesperson for the company, “and the game’s length is still to be determined.”
Is that the smell of slapped wrist?

Sucker Punch’s Nate Fox has told Eurogamer readers in a live interview that third-person PS3 action game inFamous is more concerned with being good than being long. This is probably code for, “It’s short,” but there we are.
“Look at God of War – it is an excellent game, an instant classic, and it’s only like seven hours long,” he said. “GTA IV is 30 hours long, and people wanted more? That just tells you how excellent that game is.
“It seems to me that it’s not about length, but about quality,” Fox continued. “And because I love both of those games, I hope that developers never try to shoot for a long game, but instead for the most fun they can pack onto the disc – at any length. That’s what we’re doing for inFamous.”
