Frontier Developments has announced it’s opening a new development studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The firm said the region has been on its “radar as an attractive geographic and commercial environment,” in which it can create titles as be surrounded by the pool of local universities graduates and various indie developers. “We are excited about opening an office in Halifax, our first outside of the UK,” said COO and president David Walsh. “The studio will be up and running during August, collaborating with our teams in the UK. We are looking forward to working together with our new colleagues, integrating quickly into the Halifax area and making a positive contribution to the Nova Scotia business community.”

Microsoft soft has released its first game for Android, and it’s Kinectimals. The game, originally released for Kinect and MS’s first iOS game, adds five new baby critters to the ones already pulled from the console version of the game. It will run you $2.99. Thanks, GI International.

Microsoft’s released a demo for Frontier’s Kinectimals on Xbox Live Marketplace. The taster for the Kinect title comes in at a hefty 1.52Gb. Play around with all the cats or whatever and queue it up here. May as well. Got nothing else to lose anyway.

The embargo’s officially lifted on Kinect, and boy was it damming back a serious flood of content. As in, this may be the Internet’s Noah’s Ark. Seriously people, grab two of whatever rodent happens to be scurrying through your house, build a boat, and jump past the break. Oh, and don’t forget to bring a paddle. And some tissues. You’ll need them to dab up the tears of blood that’ll be oozing from your eyes after all this reading.

Frontier has said its feline-filled Kinectimals does not use any technology based on Lionhead’s Milo & Kate, despite comments made earlier in the week by Microsoft.
