Quick Quotes – Kid Icarus dev dismisses narrative in games
“Movies and such are much better at telling stories in an effective and enjoyable way than games are.”
– Legendary designer Masahiro Sakurai, director of Kid Icarus: Uprising, speaking to Nintendo Power, as reported by Destructoid. Sakurai said the game contains “a ton of talking” but that he “didn’t add all that voice in order to tell a story.” Kid Icarus: Uprising launches exclusively for 3DS on March 23.

Kid Icarus: Uprising prompts development of 3DS hands-free stand
Gamers who have already spent time with Kid Icarus: Uprising have walked away with one uniform comment – gameplay aside, playing the game is rather uncomfortable. There’s only so many hours you want to spend hunched over a stylus – and with action as fast-paced as this, the number’s even less.
However, it seems that (in Japan at least), Nintendo’s taken preview comments to heart, shipping the game alongside a handy plastic stand.

Kid Icarus: Uprising to support left-handers with Circle Pad Pro, says Sakurai
Kid Icarus: Uprising director Masahiro Sakurai has said the game will support left-handed gamers via means of the Circle Pad Pro. “The way we are using the Circle Pad Pro in the game is to provide support for left-handed gamers,” said Sakurai, speaking to ONM UK in its latest issue. “We’ve made it possible to use the right Circle Pad in place of the left one.”
And the winners of today are the left-handed folk. Kid Icarus: Uprising launches on March 21 in the UK and March 23 in the US for 3DS.
