Rumour – Video of Half-Life 2 being played via Natal [Update]
Update: Microsoft’s just given VG247 a no comment on it.
A rep said: “Microsoft does not comment on rumour or speculation.”
Original Story: Take this with enough salt to pay a Roman legion for half a year, but Gossip Gamers has posted a video of what’s purportedly Half-Life 2 being played on Natal.

Half-Life 2 is Guardian’s game of the decade
The Guardian’s named Half-Life 2 as the best game of the decade. It’s a user vote thingum.
Apparently, “Half-Life 2 is the game of the decade, not just because it’s good, but because it encapsulates so much of what mainstream gaming has been trying to do for the last ten years; the aspiration to create believable, physically accurate worlds, then to make us a part of them.”
Knock yourself out. We really want to stop now.

Half-Life 2 Black Mesa mod will not be released in 2009

The Black Mesa mod for Half-Life 2 will not make it’s projected 2009 release, according to a post on the mod’s official forums.
“Unfortunately, to our great disappointment, Black Mesa will not make a 2009 release,” wrote the mod’s project lead. “Cynics may now rejoice, bets may be collected, and I think a mod team member has to eat his shoe, but we hope our loyal fans will forgive us and realize that the delay will translate into a better final product that’s (hopefully) more easily available to everyone.
“Once again we apologize for what has to be very disappointing news. We placed a 2009 deadline on ourselves to motivate us and bring this 6 year project to a close. And while we didn’t quite make it, we have come very close, and you can expect a complete, polished game to hit your hard drives in the near future. We’ll be sure and update if anything changes.
“Until then, hang tight, it’s coming.”
A video was released around this time last year, and we have it posted here.
Thanks, BigDownload.

The Legend of Zelda is the best game ever according to Game Informer
Game Informer celebrated passing 200 issues recently, so to celebrate, they compiled a list of 200 games, which they think are the best games of all time.
The Legend of Zelda for the NES was the winner, followed then by Super Mario Bros, Tetris, Grand Theft Auto III and Half Life 2.
We’re absolutely sickened though that Metal Gear Solid 3 is near all the way the bottom though at 191. Sickened.
Find the top ten below, with the full 200 at Nintendo Everything.

Ueda: “I have an interest in making first-person games”
Fumito Ueda has revealed that he has an “interest” in possibly making first-person games.
“I have an interest in making first-person games”, the Team ICO boss said in an interview at TGS with G4.
He also admitted a love for one First-Person Shooter in particular: Valve’s Half-Life 2.
“There was variation in terms locations. and also the way of storytelling in the game. Usually, you have to incorporate storytelling with constraints, but the way they [Valve] implemented constraints was something different that I enjoyed, compared to other games.”
Find more through the link. Ueda and Team ICO are currently working on The Last Guardian for the PS3.

- Half-Life 2 – 6.5 million

No Team Fortress 2 updates for PS3 version
According to this 1UP piece, Valve’s confirmed that free content already added to the PC version of Team Fortress 2 – and confirmed for release for the 360 SKU – won’t make it to the PS3 game. Snip:
“We don’t have PlayStation developers,” Lombardi told us. Earlier in the interview, Newell discussed how Electronic Arts had handled the PS3 port of Orange Box rather than Valve internally. When asked whether or not EA would support the game by helping port the downloadable content over, Newell said, “They’re not doing ongoing development on The Orange Box for the PS3.”

No Counter-Strike 2 in second Orange Box, Ep 3 ‘as new as Portal’ says Newell
Valve boss Gabe Newell can say what he likes. So when he says there’s an “oranger box” in the works, that is definitely won’t include Counter-Strike 2 and that Episode 3 will include plenty of stuff that’s never been done before, you can kind of assume it’s true.
On the subject of Episode 3, Newell said, “From our point of view, there’s enough newness in there that we want to spring it on people and say, ‘Here’s a bunch of things you’ve never seen before,’ and have multiples of those. There’s stuff that visually hasn’t been in games before. There’s certainly a number of game elements, on the order of Portal, that have never been done before.”
“We’re really happy with how the Orange Box did, and we’ll do an Oranger Box next time,” he added. When asked if the new package will contain Counter-Strike 2, Newell simply said, “No.”
No date, obviously, was given for either the Oranger Box or Episode 3.
