Organisers of the Writers Guild Awards have announced the nominations for the Best Videogame awards. Splash Damage’s Ed Stern for Brink, Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades & film producer Alex Garland for Enslaved and ex-journo Kieron Gillen for The Curfew are all up for the award, which will be given out on November 16 at Notting Hill.

Splash Damage’s art director Olivier Leonardi and senior game designer Ed Stern, have provided a glimpse at the concept art behind Brink along with Stern’s idea of visual storytelling, through a discussion of a one of the maps and some of the environmental hightlights included in the upcoming shooter.

Splash Damage’s Ed Stern has said the reason the developers have stayed away from a heavily scripted story in Brink is for more replayability.

Brink rocked France last week big time. Sadly, it never got to do the same thing to US press in Las Vegas due to a certain Icelandic volcano. But nonetheless, the Splash Damage shooter came out big, and impressed many.

We were in France last week, just outside Paris, to see some of Bethesda’s future titles for this and next year, such as Rage, Fallout: New Vegas, Brink and Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.

Brink writer Ed Stern has told VG247 that a second collaboration from Splash Damage and id Software is never off the table, but insisted the studio is purely focused on upcoming FPS, Brink.

Ever since its reveal before E3 last year, Splash Damage’s Brink has been firmly on the core’s radar. It’s aiming to be one of the biggest action titles of this year, pairing up with fellow Bethesda-published title Fallout: New Vegas this fall.
In one of two interviews with Splash Damage, we spoke to the game’s writer Ed “BongoBoy” Stern in Paris last week at Bethesda’s pre-E3 event, asking about the possible future of the series, another potential team-up with id Software and lots more.
The all-new demo we saw in in France last week was show-stopping. Don’t even think about not buying this game when it releases.
