Disney cuts 50 North American staff
Disney’s confirmed it’s to drop some American staff, namely “less than 20″ employees from a consolidation from the firm’s Fall Line Studio into Avalanche, according to spokeswoman Angela Emery.
Both outfits are based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In addition, around 30 staff are to be cut from Vancouver-based Propoganda.
In a note to staff, Disney Internet Group president Steve Wadsworth said, “The elimination of existing positions that we communicated today was a necessary step that we had hoped to avoid.
“In addition to all of these changes, we have also determined that Directors and above will not be receiving merit increases this year. All of these actions are part of a focused effort to ensure we are closely managing the organization through the current economic climate, balancing our need to respond to the current environment with our goal of driving significant long-term growth.”

Official Avalanche site teases big news as AionGuard is revealed to Edge
In the next issue of Edge Magazine, Just Cause developer Avalanche shows off its latest open world game, AionGuard, CVG is reporting.
The game has been in development for two years and Avalanche is yet to find a publisher.
According to the dev team, the AionGuard are a mix of “WWI dogfighter pilots, Samurai and medieval knights,” who are out to recapture the world after the near-destruction of their civilization.
However it appears more info will be winging its way to the web soon as the official Avalanche site teases a “big news update” is due soon.
Last year the developer was looking for an effects artist to work on a “high-profile” project for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Coincidence surely.
More AionGuard stuff through the CVG link.
