Production on Dead Island 2 continues. MCV reports that Sumo Digital, known for LittleBigPlanet 3, Sonic & All-Stars Racing and ports of various other games, is now working on the game.

"Sumo showed so much understanding of the brand, had creative ideas and an excellent vision that was aligned with our own," Dr Klemens Kundratitz, Koch Media CEO told the site.

"It just made perfect sense for us to move the project to them. We will reveal more details at a later stage, but for now I’d like to say that we are obviously super excited about the progress that we are making with them."

Dead Island 2 had a long development period at Spec Ops: The Line studio Yager, before Deep Silver pulled the plug in July last year.

The publisher said at the time that Dead Island 2 has not been cancelled, which lead everyone to presume another studio was to take the helm.

Deep Silver promised to reveal more details soon.
