Star Fox Zero won't contain content locked behind amiibo figures

Star Fox Zero won't have content or modes locked behind amiibo figures.

Speaking with Kotaku at E3 last week, Shigeru Miyamoto said he didn't want to "go down that path." Instead, those who own amiibo which the title supports will get something simple like a skin.

"They’re going to get a little something extra and that’s how I’m planning on it with this game," he said. "So rather than actual abilities or things like that changing in the game, it would be like getting a different skin for the Arwing or something like that.”

“I’m really not thinking about there being locked content or there being a mode that you won’t be able to play if you don’t have one. Since we already have the existing Smash Bros. amiibos I basically want to put in something so if you already have those amiibos, there is something that gives a nice charge when you do that.”

Miyamoto said he wanted to do this with Star Fox Zero because he figured people would try to tap their current amiibo figures on the game anyway.

Star Fox Zero was announced for a holiday release during Nintendo's E3 2015 digital event. You can have a look at live gameplay of the title through here and read up on the game's features and characters here.
