The new Rocksmith is really great.
It has fully embraced the idea of being a teching tool, whereas the first Rocksmith wasn’t sure if it was a game or a teaching tool. 2014 is really great and motivating!

@2 do you reckon the 2014 edition is a useful teaching guide then? It’s been years since I picked up a guitar and I’m rusty, so I’m tempted.

Definitely, i’m by no means a pro with a guitar, but Rocksmith 2014 not only does the hardest thing, keeps me motivated. It also tells me “Hey, we noticed you’re having problems with this and this in this here song. So maybe if you watched this guide we just happen to have for you here, or played this here tutorial, or played this minigame, or just played the section of the song slower. Maybe that would help”.
You’re given so many options to improve that you can actually just choose to maybe only play the minigames, or the tutorials, or whatever is the most fun for you.
Also, none of the songs are locked behind a disgusting career mode :D

I was expecting by the title that it’d be something like 39/40 or 40/40.

I don’t take any value in Famitsu scores anymore. They demonstrated with games like 3rd Birthday that their scores mean absolutely nothing if the game is a main entry in a flagship title or a game that’s heavily hyped by a major company; the game can be complete garbage and they’ll still score it highly. The only exception is if it’s just so glaringly obviously bad that other magazines will be absolutely reaming the game, as in the case of FF14.

@Talkar: Is it any good for a (total) beginner though? I’ve had some lessons, but I could only play very basic stuff (badly) and that was years ago >_<
