LEGO Marvel Super Heroes could be TT Games’ most adorable title yet. Today, the team behind the title steps on stage at the Eurogamer Expo to provide an update on the game’s progress, along with the move to next-gen consoles. You can watch it below at 4pm UK. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is out this fall on 3DS, DS, PC, PS3, Vita, Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360 as well as PS4 and Xbox One.

    Thanks for linking the video!

I have to say, he was kind of adorable. Usually, with presentations, you have someone who doesn’t have a lot of character, reading a well rehearsed presentation and it’s just a very formal thing. It’s not often where you see a presenter who feels human — feeling awkward and nervous, stumbling over himself and so on. I appreciated that. I guess, as always, I’m just not a fan of artificial things.

And Traveller’s Tales hasn’t ever really seemed so artificial to me, at all. They’re one of those ‘mutant’ mainstream developers I’ve spoken about that make games which really don’t mesh with the rest of what’s out there. Maybe it’s because they’re making family experience games? I don’t know, but there’s quantifiable amounts of fun on offer there, but so was there in pretty much every other LEGO game I’ve played.

I just get this labour of love feeling from it, that there were characters who only made it in even because some of the devs really wanted to see them there. That’s really cool.

So, what did I take away from this?

Squirrel Girl is in there, but I kind of expected that, so that’s made both myself and a lady friend very, very happy. Doreen really does deserve more attention, and I’m glad she’s been getting it of late. She’s taken down Doom and Thanos in the past, so she’s no pushover, either!

And Rocket Raccoon! Hooray! I’ll play Rocket Raccoon any chance I get because he’s just so ridiculous, and that makes me hope that Groot has tagged along for the ride, too. Only ever saying ‘I am Groot!’ as is his wont.

And the lizard! That was random, but appreciated.

I honestly doubt they’ve got one of my all time favourite obscure characters in there — Stargod. I mean, how could I not love Stargod? It’s the most ridiculous werewolf character I’ve ever seen, in anything, ever. His story is just… wow. He even marries She-Hulk at one point (which is great, because Jennifer Walters is rad), but sadly that doesn’t work out for them.

I’m betting they have Jen, too. I’d be surprised if they didn’t. I really dig Jen as a character. She’s a strong, independent lady that Marvel thankfully never sexualised too much. (Though there were some artists. Sigh. But aren’t there always?)

Then there’s the Hulkbuster armour. They actually did a really nice job with that as some representations of the Hulkbuster are… somewhat questionable! Like the Igor version of it from Iron Man 3. The best version of that armour though was probably the one in Iron Man: Armoured Adventures. But then, the character designs across the board were great in that show. (It has the only version of Blizzard I’ve ever liked.) If you haven’t seen that, give it a look.

Still, yes, if they’ve thrown in Stargod randomly then this has the chance to be my game of the decade. Even without though — I have to say that this is going to be hands-down one of my favourite games.

I wished they would have put this much time and effort into lego batman superman dc 2. This game does look really fun though at first I thought it’d be another generic game smash poke dead but they’ve actually taken the time to give superheroes more than one ability which the dc game was lacking most of the extra characters were just clones. I will be picking this up for my ps4 along with watchdogs. :D
