Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar is out now on iOS. Taking place place 20 years after the original Quest of the Avatar, the free-to-play title developed by EA Mobile and Mythic Entertainment finds the Avatar defending Britannia while aiding Lady British. A launch video is below, and the game is in the works for Android and possibly for PC. Thanks, Shack.

I was hoping a real RPG game, I mean a real one like the old Ultima serie.

This looks awful, real awful and has nothing to do with Ultima.

Ultima VII Part Two : Serpent Isle is the best RPG ever made. We need a game which pay tribute to this one not crappy action-RPG

I am with you 100% with revisiting Ultima VII Serpent Isle. It was the best in that franchise to my eyes.
Though I just saw this iOS version so I cannot talk much about it. It looks like maybe it needs to mature. Perhaps this iOS version still has much to offer and could be better with next sequel… I hope ;)

From what some Ultima Dragons mention on Facebook, apparently the Virtue system is interesting. Aside from that, the game would appear to be more of an sequel to the Runes of Virtue games. I personally don’t enjoy the facelift they’ve tried to give to the series (airships, leaf-armor and antlers, the over-mystified gypsy) or the casual fourth-wall-breakingness (“Welcome to Ultima Forever! Press skip to jump right into action.”). It’d be nice if they at least tried to set the mood… Then again, from a marketing view-point, I guess all this should be expected.

Meanwhile, I’ll be waiting for Shroud of the Avatar.

Yeah, I think Shroud of the Avatar will fill the gap. ;)
