Shadow of the Eternals has a new video available showing over nine minutes of gameplay and cinematic footage. The episodic game in the works at Precursor Games, is the “spritual successor” to Silicon Knights’ Eternal Darkness and is currently seeking crowd-funding. So far, the firm has garnered $137,848 towards its $1,500,000 goal, thanks to 2334 backers. It has 26 days left on the clock. Thanks, EdNorton.

They have confirmed the refunds via an update but there is a bigger problem here: Dyack. The last time Dyack was behind a game, even various publishers including Acitivion couldn’t keep him in line and make him deliver on his lofty promises. Then there is the matter of Precursor games “buying” all this stuff from Silicon Knights, a company that was Dyack’s but now he has left it, its phone lines are down and the company is said to be “alive” but without a location or known work force.

Yeah I don’t see this happening. If there’s only this little interest now, it’s not going to get any better in the next few weeks.

@5: you would love it. it is probably seriously dated graphically now but it is such a moody and great adventure and in the gameplay department it will probably still hold up. the insane meter! was it called like that, madness meter?, i cannot recall – well you go insane and weird stuff happens. it´s awesome and scary. well written game, great pacing and very atmospheric…a real gem this game

Speaking of which, the monastery is exactly the same as the one in the original game. I understand it being a spiritual successor and all, but what I’m looking at is an asset-by-asset revamp of a level that already belongs to someone, surely, be it Nintendo or SK. Is that even legal?

Precursor bought the assets from SK. Yes that is legal.
