Soul Sacrifice dated: PS Vita bundle & limited edition console revealed

Monday, 3rd December 2012 11:56 GMT By Dave Cook

Soul Sacrifice has been dated for PS Vita in Japan. Keiji Inafune’s dark RPG is to take on Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4 head-on when they both launch on the same day. Sony is also launching a branded PS Vita model alongside the game. Get shots of the pack below.

It’s a bit of a ‘fuck you’ to Inafune’s old employer isn’t it? Both games share similar traits after all, and both are handheld RPG titles.

Both games launch March 7th, and the Soul Sacrifice PS Vita bundle will cost 29,980 Yen on the day. The pack includes a branded red console, a 4GB memory card, branded console wallet, data transfer cable, headphones, cleaning kit and a wrist strap. No Western release has been confirmed.

I am absolutely not surprised at all. When they pushed the release date back on this, I completely assumed they would do this. I would say MH was Sony’s COD in Japan, and they were really pissed with capcom when moved to ninty platforms (probably because of a fat payout from ninty). With this, I am sure Sony wants to give a message to Capcom that they don’t need MH anymore and that they will make a new franchise themselves now.
Although it makes little sense business wise, not only is it priced costlier, now ninty and capcom can easily come up with a cheaper 3ds bundle now that sony released its cards. At least they shouldn’t have released the price.
It remains more a bull-headed revenge decision than a sensible marketing one. But IF they manage to beat MH on just that first week, by any miracle, MH will die.
It also shows Sony is on vita for the long run. I am clearly seeing Soul Sacrifice as Vita’s MH, and something sony owns completely, so they can make a great franchise out of it.

I’m not that excited about the game.not that it is bad, just not my type.
Yet still the package and its style and design is top notch, the cleaning cloth is gorgeous for sure.
They make a similar bundle for KZ Mercenary and I’m in.

If I had the money I’d consider importing the shit out of that bundle.
    It looks really gorgeous.

the game actually outsold monster hunter which is a huge suprise since monster hunter is a hugeeeeee factor there….and it was not rally sony who said they didnt need capcom it was really the one who made this game^^ since he left them for not letting younger people have a chance at a job he quit and made 3 differnt companies and in turn pushed the game back to pratticly give a big FU to capcom to show he does not need them anymore.
