Monaco to launch on PC and XBLA

Wednesday, 17th October 2012 00:14 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Co-operative indie stealth effort Monaco still doesn’t have a release date, but we do know it will appear on two platforms simultaneously.

After three years in development, during which time it has garnered a number of awards and nominations, Monaco is near complete. Pocketwatch can’t tell us when the larcenous title will arrive, but did reveal that it will launch on Xbox Live in addition to PC.

The PC version is currently in beta; watch the game’s Facebook page and website for details of how to get on board. The trailer below will give you an idea of how it works.

Thanks, Destructoid.

Too damn long. I hope it’s one of those Introversion type deals where it looks terrible but plays amazingly.

Have to disagree about the look. To me it looks the opposite of terrible. Sure, it does look rather crowded and a bit distracting in spots but other than that, it is a solid looking top down game. Really love the idea, implementation and the general presentation.

Yup. I’m throwing my pennies in with #2, I’ve loved the aesthetic since the beginning. It’s actually been updated some, along the way, and made even prettier than the original concepts showed.

To be honest, I’m all for games which look/behave a little differently. Top-down games are a rarity these days. And if there’s one thing I’m tired of, it’s a lack of variety/novelty. I don’t understand why we’re in such a rut and how everything ever has to be a first or third person action adventure (often a very violent one).

Still. It’s hard to be cynical today after coming back from a short time away from the Internet (thanks to being seriously ill) to Rocket Raccoon. Yes, I’m going to be talking about this all the time now. Because Rocket Raccoon. I categorise that under ‘Fuck Yes.’

But yeah, long and short of it is that I just miss variety. I miss it a lot. I miss top-down games, too. So this will be nice. I’m completely for it.
