Lay-offs confirmed at Warner Bros. Seattle studios

Warner Bros. has confirmed an earlier report of a round of lay-offs at its Seattle studios, which includes the teams behind Gotham City Impostors and Guardians of Middle-Earth.

"Due to shifting business imperatives, WB Games Seattle has made staff reductions. The group will continue to remain an integral part of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment," the publisher told Joystiq.

The publisher's confirmation came as something of a relief after news broke via Twitter, causing anxiety until the extent of the lay-offs were known.

As it stands, it seems Snowblind, Surreal and Monolith will remain open, and there has been no talk of cancelled projects.

The next known project out of the three Seattle teams is Lord of the Rings: Guardians of Middle-Earth.

This is the second round of lay-offs to strike the teams in recent memory after a November cut.
