Ninja Gaiden 3 Clan Battle and Ninja Trials detailed

Ninja Gaiden 3's multiplayer isn't just about cutting up other ninjas. Oh, alright, yes it is.

Ninja Gaiden 3's multiplayer mode is called "Shadow of the World", according to the blog of Tecmo Koei European community manager Chin Soon Sun.

One mode, called Ninja Trails, can be tackled alone or in co-operative play. Players must complete trials such as using specific skills to score kills, and will be rewarded with Karma, which allows for character progress.

The second mode, Clan Battle, pits two groups of four ninjas against each other in team deathmatch. Interestingly, players will occasionally receive orders to stalk and off their own teammates, adding a nice paranoid twist. This mode also allows for the collection of Karma.

There's a training mode, and players can customise their ninjas.

Ninja Gaiden 3 is expected on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 20 in the US and March 23 in Europe. A Wii U version is to follow.
