E3 rumour watch: Sony briefly reveals Syphon Filter 4, domains registered
Several forums, including those published by Giantbomb, GameTrailers and French website Gamekyo, are reporting that Sony’s US Playstation website published a post disclosing Syphon Filter 4 before removing it an hour later.
Apparently, the post said the game was being developed using a new engine by SCE London and would be releasing in Q4 2012.
We decided to do some snooping around and it appears Sony has registered not one but five Syphon Filter related domains. The domains are SyphonFilter-Game.com, SyphonFilterAgency.com, SyphonFilterCommand.com, SyphonFilterHq.com and SyphonFilterOps.com.
Chances of an E3 reveal just went up. We’ll send Sony an email and ask for comment.

A lot of people will be excited.
Previously, Syphon Filter was nothing special but in my opinion Sony this gen can make some interesting stuff including real stealth this time around.

Nowhere near as heavy on the stealth element, but in terms of what else it is similar to; it’s like a cross between Splinter Cell and Spec Ops: The Line.
If you can imagine that.
Basically it’s predominantly a third person shooter with stealth bits.

The first two (and the third to an extent) SF games were amazing for their time, and ones of the best games ever made. The PSP/PS2 spin offs were nothing like the old titles, they were just crappy cover based shooters.

Another potential E3 surprise for Sony spoiled. They’ve got to stop this. First Starhawk gets a full reveal before E3 and now this. Reminds me of Last Guardian trailer leak a few years ago.

^… Sony showed off Starhawk themselves, just like last year it seems that people are unable to comprehend this. They werent ‘leaked’ or ‘spoiled’.

As above, some stuff does get leaked prior to be announcements – and this could be one of them. Sony also worked out everyone else saves everything for E3 and actually announcing a couple of your big titles in the run up to E3 can get them a lot more coverage than they would get when 300 other titles are being talked about.

I WOULD LOVE THIS TO HAPPEN… But you know what else I would LOVE? An HD Collection of the first three Syphon Filter games. Don’t care if they’re PS1 and will look strange on HD (actually they are the best looking games ever on a PS1) I just WANT THEM!!!!!!!
