High Voltage has revealed that it plans to ship The Grinder on Wii as first-person shooter, while maintaining a top-down view on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Speaking with IGN, CCO Eric Nofsinger says the developer is also still looking for a publisher.

“The expansion of Grinder to 360 and PS3 and its subsequent change in gameplay and perspective has been somewhat misinterpreted as a universal change across all platforms,” said Nofsinger.

“We still genuinely love the Wii and would ideally like to see a publishing partner pick up both a FPS Wii version and a third-person action version specific to the 360 and PS3.

“We have invested more than year into the Wii; the game is extremely fun, and frankly, we wouldn’t want to see that work ‘thrown away, but when we decided to add the 360 and PS3 platforms it didn’t seem to make much sense to jump on the rainbow chasing treadmill of trying to do the same game for such dissimilar consoles and end up short changing one or the other.”

The Grinder is out in 2011.

So basically the PS3/360 versions are just a knock down XBLA jobbie.

Yay now we get 2 short changed games rather than just one! Woop woop! Seriously though this game actually had me interest with the initial art and shots with the announcement it was coming to PS360 too. Then they change it to top down with awful voice acting, crap graphics, stupid coloured firing to match your player and overall genericnous! How can they even call both these games The Grinder? What cos both can be played by 4 players and involve monsters?

I’m feeling uneasy about this idea, because of the way it’s been done.
They release details and shots of promising looking Wii game, then, at the midst of fallout from Wii, by third-parties. they reveal the game to also be in development for HD consoles, AND announce a release date projection that could realistically allow a decent version for consoles, considering the existing base, but now there’s been a simmering down, they actually swerve everybody by pulling this top-down business out of the hat.
