Rumour – 360 Memory Sticks to cost up to $70

xbox360logo2

According to Gamestop listings caught by Kotaku, the official Memory Sticks due on sale for Xbox 360 are to retail at up to $70.

According to pages on the retailer’s website, the 8Gb stick will cost $39.99, while the 16Gb will be worth $69.90.

This comes on the back of confirmation last week that 360 will be supporting USB flash drives as an external source of space, beginning next week.

We’ll ask Microsoft what the pricing is in the UK this morning.

Just to be clear, you don’t actually need an MS branded one do you, you can use any 16gb USB stick?

MS sure do bring the lols when it comes to peripheral pricing though.

Yeah, any old stick will do. The branded ones are just to rip-off people who don’t know any better, like those hugely overpriced Wii-branded SD cards.

They locked out third-party memory cards, as in the ones that go in the special Memory Unit slots. Any USB stick over 1GB should work with this new feature, although naturally performance may vary.
