Battlestar Galactica MMO announce opens GDC

battlestar

GDC’s getting under way as we type, and first out of the gate is a Battlestar Galactica MMO from German firm Bigpoint.

The company also just said it’s to open a US office.

Battlestar Galactica owner NBC Universal acquired 35 percent of Bigpoint in 2008.

The game is due in the back half of this year, and, obviously, is based on the Syfy TV show.

Bigpoint’s US offices will be based in San Francisco.

There’s a press release here.

Get a tedious amount of detail on Bigpoint’s browser game business from Gama.

HOOOOOOOOORAAYYYYYYYY!!
And it’s kinda funny: two days ago, I was telling a friend that the only way I’m ever going to play a “space” game would be if a BSG game was made.

“The Unity co-developed MMOG will offer state of the art graphics that can be played directly in an Internet browser.”

Have to say that destroyed any excitement I had about it :-(
