GTA does not need to be an “annual franchise”

gtaiv20

Grand Theft Auto titles do not need to be annualized said Take-Two during its Q4 fiscal call to investors.

According to Take-Two, GTA is a strong enough franchise that it does not need a new release annually, especially with the completion of the GTA IV story through DLC proving to remain profitable.

Guess GTA V will be landing sometime in 2011, then.

The call is ongoing, we’re listening, and will update you if anything interesting happens.

Announced at E3, released in 2011 then.

I’m going with Sony to announce it this time.

One platform will get exclusive content for V, like the 360 did this gen. Sony and MS will just be tripping over themselves trying to get something exclusive.

Sony’s got Agent. I doubt T2 will do it again. Not with the install base gap narrowing. Personally, I think they could have made that 50 mil by putting the DLC on all the platforms.

On top of that, I think MS was only interested in such a deal to sell consoles. I dont think another deal would move enough systems to be worth the money.

Nothing “needs” to be an annual franchise.

Agreed. But it is nice to get DLC to hold you over and prolong a games life. As long as its done well and is worth the price of admission of course.

Pretty ironic statement for them to make considering that in the last 10 years there’s only been 3 years where one was not released… and half of them have been in the last 3 years.

I’d much rather they took their time over them rather than rush them out yearly.
