I always have and always will continue to like Live and don’t even mind paying for it. One feature alone makes it worth it. The partying voice chat. On PC, you pay for ventrillo or Teamspeak, or you have to use Steam Voice or even MSN voice… ALL of which lack the seamless integration and great sound quality. Nothing on the PC comes close sounding good except Vent or TS but you have to pay the server cost. The PS3 voice chat is just Complete CRAP.. besides not sounding all that great (yes I have a PS3 also), it doesn’t allow for the party system.. I like talking to friends online that aren’t playing the same game. People can just jump in/out of “channel” people are all talking on…. Voice hands down makes for a 100% better online experience for simple fact it allows you coordinating gameplay in real time. If on a PC i have to Text chat with someone in game it , just SUCKS… I want SEAMLESS voice, which Live makes Easy/Fast/Better to use.

I’ve never had to pay for Ventrillo or Teamspeak…? Though i havnt used either of them in ages.

As for cross-game voice chat on PS3, its totally coming this month according to a certain site i wont name.

50 Euro a year works out at a Euro a week.

PS3 voice chat sucks to the exstent that its the games doing all the work and not the firmware like on 360, its obviously more limited to.
As for the head set: Its good that any BlueTooth one will work but for quality the official one works best yet its Sony’s fault you hear bad quality in most games because Sony still dont bundle their headsets with the console like MS do.

I am using First Party PS3 Headset. And yes PS3 voice sucks in comparison. It’s a pain in the ass to even start a chat with someone unless they are in the same game as you. Be a fan boy all you want.. but MS does do a few things right and Voice chat is one them. Also because Voice is built into the service everyone has it. 95% of all games I ever join have people talking. Sometimes I don’t want to hear them but majority of the time I do. On the PS3, in CoD4 I would say less than half of the people use voice where on 360 I find 95% of everyone uses it. And voice makes a huge difference in gameplay. Usually the people that don’t aren’t coordinating and just do the lone wolf thing, which screws the team.

Ventrillo and Teamspeak have ALWAYS cost… they just cost on the Server side of things. If you have 10 friends, someone has to be running the server software and it isn’t free for use.

*Edit* I appologize, it seams Ventrilo and TS are both free to the home users. However it’s still not part of a system where everyone has it and is seamless between and during games.

I personally would even pay for a Service on the PC if it made my gaming with friends as seamless as Live does.

You have my word if Sony started charging for PSN I’m out the game.

Must have changed then, i’ve had TeamSpeak running my computer as a server and it didnt cost me anything at that time.

Yeah, and I was surprised when I found out that I couldn’t get any films on the Euro PSN store. I was really looking forward to DL’ing some 1080p films, which I don’t think XBL does yet.

Films in 1080p run 15-18GB in size… not practical for storage. However streaming would be less of an issue as you only need a good buffer/spooler.

ummm mushroom have you been in the ps store? it shits on netflix and style sony has it set up is just superb. The TV,Anime,Documentaries are just fabulous quality. Hell even the SD stuff looks awesome upscaled.

If you want true 1080p Super Hi def then Blu-ray is the way to go. If you want great looking 720p hd stuff then the ps store is your spot. You guys will get it this winter I’m sure and trust me you’ll love it.
