Metal Gear Art Studio offered in franchise anniversary celebrations
Konami has released the Metal Gear Art Studio, an online set of digital drawing tools. Apparently the brainchild of artist Yoji Shinkawa as part of the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the online tools are supposed to be functionally identical to those used to create the distinctive brush-style concept art which has so defined Metal Gear. You’ll need to log in via social media, but then you can draw your own fanart and watch other fans add theirs in real time. Every three weeks, Shinkawa himself will select a number of artworks on a specified theme, with exclusive prizes on offer.
Thanks, StrategyInformer.

Metal Gear Solid artist planning “surprise” for franchise anniversary
Metal Gear Solid debuted a gorgeous brush-stroke style art style which later went on to become one of the series’s defining characteristics, linking artist Yoji Shinkawa with the franchise forevermore. For the 25th anniversary of the very first Metal Gear, the series’s Facebook page has promised the artist is preparing a “very special surprise”. Obviously we have no idea what it is, but the post calls for questions, so perhaps an interview or video profile, or even a livestream of a work in progress.
Thanks, All Games Beta.

Kojima reveals the origins of Metal Gear Solid’s Cyborg Ninja
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has shared a sketch – a “graffiti” – by long-time series artist Yoji Shinkawa, which was the genesis of Metal Gear Solid’s cyborg ninja.
A cyborg ninja character of some kind has appeared in every core Metal Gear game since. See the full sketch through the break.

MGS4 finally gets Japanese launch event
Konami’s announced that there’s going to be Tokyo dates in the Kojima World Tour added for this weekend, June 28 and 29.
Hideo’s not going to be there, from the look of it, but fans may be able to get art director Yoji Shinkawa’s autograph if they’re fast enough. That’s a sketchy translation, but it seems as though he’s only going to doing 50 signings at each event.
If you recall, the Japanese MGS4 launch events were cancelled in the wake of a murder spree in Akihabara.

Pics from Hideo Kojima London signing posted
PS3F’s posted shots from today’s Kojima signing in London, showing why 8/10 scores don’t mean a fig to this bunch of people.
The site got an MGS Collection signed by Kojima, artist Yoji Shinkawa and “Beauty and the Beast model Yumi Kikuchi”. No idea why she was there, but one in the hand’s worth two in the bush. Take a look.

Konami: London Kojima signing “very well attended,” world tour detailed
Metal Gear boss Hideo Kojima appeared at HMV in Oxford Street today, alongside long-time Snake art-man Yoji Shinkawa, to sign stuff for fans, and a Konami UK rep told us the event was “very well attended”.
We’re getting pictures tomorrow morning, apparently.
The London signing was the first step in a global promo tour to support the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4, which Konami details today on a dedicated website showing locations and date you can get a chance to meet the Japanese master.
Click through for a look. We’ll post the photos as soon as we get them.

Kojima signing MGS4 London on June 2
Konami’s confirmed that Kojima’s MGS4 promotional world tour will begin in London on June 2 with a signing of the game at HMV on Oxford Street.
The Konami developer and artist Yoji Shinkawa will be at the store from noon onwards but access to the duo will be “strictly limited,” apparently.
If you want in, 300 pre-release sleeves will be made available from the store at 9am. Get a sleeve and you get in. Obviously, to be in with a chance you have to pre-order the game from HMV, which’ll cost you a fiver.
Good luck.
