Yakuza HD remakes outed by Famitsu leaks

20120718yakuza2

Andriasang‘s generally reliable early Famitsu leaks report that Sega’s major Yakuza announcement is an HD remake bundle of the first two Yakuza games. The re-release is expected in early November – although previous rumours had it down for December – exclusively for PlayStation 3. We’re waiting on the magazine’s release for more information. The first two entries in the action series arrived on PS2; Yakuza 3 and 4 are available on PS3, and a fifth release is due this year.

Yakuza 2 allows you to” smash people’s heads into walls”

IGN has published a hands-on with Sega’s Yakuza 2. The intensity of the game’s combat really left its mark.

“The fighting system feels both faster and more responsive than what I remember from the first game,” says the piece.

“While it seemed a little stiff at times, the battle I tried in Yakuza 2 was quick, exact and extremely brutal.

“You can smash peoples’ heads into walls and watch blood fly, or clothesline them and watch their bodies flip and contort before their face smacks into the ground. New camera work makes these sorts of moves look even cooler than the first time around, which is awesome.”

Yakuza 2 released September 9

Sega has issued a press release revealing that Yakuza 2 will be released on September 9 this year.

“Yakuza 2 plunges you once more into the violent Japanese underworld where respect and honour holds great importance. In intense brutal clashes with rival gangs, the police, and the Korean mafia, you will have opportunities to dole out more brutal punishment,” says the release.

“Play as Kazuma Kiryu, the hero from the original Yakuza™ and explore Tokyo and now Osaka. Wander through the back alleys of Japan’s underworld while trying to prevent an all-out gang war. Endless conflicts and surprise plot twists will immerse you in a dark shadowy world where only the strongest will survive.”

Yakuza 2 to feature Japanese audio with English subtitles

yakuza4.jpg

Seganerds is reporting that Yakuza 2 will have English subtitles, allaying the fears of fans who complained about some awful English voice acting in the first installment. Says the site:

Authentic, cinematic sequel. The gritty, genuine portrayal of life in the Yakuza is made more realistic throughout 16 gripping chapters with a return to the original Japanese voice cast and English subtitles.

That should please most of you, we thought. Yakuza 2 is scheduled for a September release.
