Unity tech surpasses 750,000 registered developers

Unity Technologies has announced its Unity platform for 3D on the web, iOS, Android and consoles has surpassed 750,000 registered developers, and that over 200,000 users remain active on a monthly basis. The number of Unity Web Player installs has also doubled over the last year, with 40 million as of November of 2010 and at present, over 80 million.

Unity Technologies appoints former Criterion CEO as chairman

Unity Technologies has announced the appointment of former president and CEO of Criterion, David Lau-Kee, as its new non-executive chairman.

From the official release:

David Lau-Kee brings 15 years of experience in the games industry to Unity, drawing upon roles as co-founder, President and CEO of Criterion Software Group, the world’s largest games middleware company and Vice President of Electronic Arts, as well as earlier high-level positions in global technology business including as General Manager, Canon Europe, to bring unique and invaluable strategic insight to Unity Technologies as the company continues its phenomenal growth,.
