Tales franchise reaches 15 million units shipped
Namco Bandai has announced that its Tales franchise, a long-running series of RPGs, has shipped over 15 million units. The franchise launched in 1995 with Tales of Phantasia on SNES, and its most recent entry is Tales of Xillia 2, which Gematsu reports has moved 480,000 units since releasing in Japan on November 1. The next western release is Tales of Xillia, due on PlayStation 3 some time in 2013.

“No big changes,” between Japanese and western version of Xillia, says Baba
Tales of Xillia producer Hideo Baba has told the PS Blog there are no big changes between the original Japanese version of the game and the international version. Baba said this was because the team wanted to provide “the same gameplay experience as much as possible between all regions.” In another part of the interview, Baba reiterated that is the game sells well, more Tales games will be released in the west in the future. Namco Bandai will release Tales of Xillia in North America and Europe in 2013.

Tales of Xillia releasing in US, Europe in 2013
Namco Bandai has announced Tales of Xillia will be released in North America and Europe in 2013. The news was announced during the Japan Expo in Paris today. Series producer Hideo Baba said there’s also “a good chance” the Tales of Xillia 2 will be released in the west, providing Xillia sells well in the region. Xillia 2 is out November 1 in Japan. Namco Bandai trademarks Tales of Xillia for US
Tales of Xillia has been trademarked in the US by Namco Bandai, according to a USPTO filing (via Siliconera). This follows a similar filing by the publisher in Europe last week. The filings give a heavy hint the PS3 RPG is about to be announced for the west: Namco Bandai UK marketing boss Lee Kirton tweeted over the weekend it had announcements planned for next month.
