Puppeteer came out earlier today on the PlayStation 3 and allows players to platform their way through art history in perhaps a similar manner to ACE Team’s Rock of Ages.This trip should be especially vivid considering that the game is being directed not by someone with a traditional design background, but rather the lead animator from horror games Forbidden Siren 2 and Siren: Blood Curse. A demo for Puppeteer will be made available in Europe prior to launch. The demo date has has yet to be set, but one will be released. A Rehearsal Edition demo releases on Japan’s PlayStation Store this week, and while not a traditional demo, it’s described as a “regional way to introduce the world of Puppeteer.” The game releases on PS3 September 11.

Puppeteer has received a Japanese demo, and footage of the sample has appeared online. The gameplay shows plenty of platforming, and scissor based combat, as well as a neat move that sees our hero gliding through cobwebs. Check it out here.

Jack Tretton said on stage tonight at E3 during the Sony press conference that the firm has plans to release a robust set of games for PlayStation 3. New trailers for The Last of Us, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Gran Turismo 6 accompanied this announcement – although there’re plenty more games inbound.

There’s also a video below, which features clips taken from the 9 second head trailers the firm released earlier this month. They are all together in one nice look for you now. Puppeteer will arrive on PSN and at retail in North America September 10 and in Europe September 11 for $39.99/€39.99.

SCE Japan has released a new video for Puppeteer, and it’s posted below. Also released was information pertaining to “special heads” that the character Kutaro will encounter on his journey which contain powers which once belonged to the four legendary Moon Heroes. The revealed heads include the Moon Knight, the Moon Ninja and players will need to collect and keep the right heads they come across ass some can change and shape the world while others unlock bonus stages. The game will arrive on PSN and at retail in North America September 10 and in Europe September 11 for $39.99/€39.99. Box art for the title is posted though the PS Blog along with more information.

Puppeteer is one of many PS3 projects being worked on by Sony Japan Studio. It may be a 2D platformer that stars a puppet, but it’s definitely not just for kids the developer has stressed. In fact, the puppet star of the game has his head ripped off by the king. Traumatising.

Puppeteer will be a rather large platformer, according to Sony Japan Studio’s Gavin Moore, who said if players just fly right through it and not search for any secrets, it will last over the 15 hours mark.
