Puppeteer release date set at GDC

Although it was quite busy talking up its indie push, Sony briefly paused at GDC to give a release window for first-party effort Puppeteer.

The SCE Japan production is due in North America on September 10, Joystiq reports from GDC.

Puppeteer will release simultaneously at retail and via the PlayStation Network.

The unusual platform adventure has a couple of claims to fame; SCE Japan is one of Sony's most interesting teams, but it's also brought on Gavin Moore to direct. His previous works include The Getaway and Forbidden Siren.

Puppeteer was only announced at gamescom 2012 so it's actually snuck up on us quite quickly, but it has been in the works for some time, with Sony trademarking the title as early as 2010.

Thanks, Gematsu.
