SOE Fan Faire opening speech to be streamed online
Gamebreaker is to stream live SOE president John Smedley’s community address at the company’s Fan Faire event later on tonight in the US. This speech is all but likely when we’re going to see Planetside 2 properly for the first time. If you’re not able to watch it, though, an audio brodcast will be provided through Everquest and Everquest II. The keynote will be on from 7pm PST (3am UK time).
Massively has more details.

Planetside Next is only internal name for next Planetside
The “REALLY MASSIVE” [sic] Planetside follow-up SOE’s John Smedley was rabbiting on about this morning probably isn’t called Planetside Next, according to Massively.
“We spoke to SOE and confirmed that this is an internal working title, not the official one, so we may be hearing about a new title in the future,” said the site.
Smedley said today that the sequel to SOE’s MMO shooter is to feature bonkers-huge battles and “much better organization”.
Praise be to God. No date. Thanks, The_Villa.

SOE’s John Smedly drops hints about “PlanetSide Next”

SOE’s John Smedly recently set up shop on Livejournal, and – instead of using it to discuss ethics, high art, the curing of cancer or other typical Livejournal topics – he’s decided to focus on videogames. Imagine that.
His most recent entry makes multiple mentions of “PlanetSide Next,” which we’re assuming to be the name of, er, the next PlanetSide.
“To me, Planetside Next means we get a chance to take the essence of everything that was fun in Planetside and make it a lot better. Massive battles on a scale no other FPS will touch. None of this 64 player stuff. REALLY MASSIVE. With much better organization, and a tight focus on making sure the action is always going on, with awesome graphics,” he wrote.
Thanks, Joystiq.
