The Pitt is for both Fallout 3 “completists” and “casual” players, says Bethesda

Fallout 3 DLC The Pitt will appeal to both obsessives and casual players just looking for fun and story, Bethesda’s told VG247.
“The content works well for both camps,” said Jeff Gardiner, lead producer on the 360 and PC content.
“If you’re a ‘completist,’ you’ll find not only new Raider Armor, weapons like the AutoAxe, and a new set of power armor, but also be able to experience a new part of Fallout that has been hinted about both in Fallout 3 and the canon as a whole.
“If you’re a casual player, you’ll get hours of new content, a compelling story, plus all of the above.”
The DLC, the game’s second piece after Operation: Achorage, was set in Pittsburgh for several reasons, we were told.
“Pittsburgh has a special resonance with several of our team members,” Gardiner added.
“Plus, it was fun to build large buildings that aren’t completely bombed out, as the city itself escaped direct bombardment during the war. It’s
also relatively close to Washington, DC. Pittsburgh also fit thematically with the notion of exploring a Raider society, which the player will now finally be able to do.”
The Pitt releases for both PC and 360 on March 24, priced 800 MS Points. You’ll get about four hours play from it.

The Pitt adds four hours play, new Achievements, to Fallout 3

The Pitt will add roughly four hours of play to Fallout 3, Jeff Gardiner, lead producer on the download, has told VG247.
“The Pitt comprises of around four hours of playtime,” said the developer.
“You can always re-visit it for its unique vendors and repeatable quests as well.”
Gardiner added: “There are also four new Achievements, as well as new perks.”
Your 800 MS Points won’t just be sunk into playtime, however. We were assured there’s plenty of “phat lewt” to be had.
“There’s plenty of new gear in The Pitt,” said Gardiner.
“It’s just as brutal but not as high tech as the load-outs available in Operation: Anchorage. There are
several new raider armors, even a stylized version of the Brotherhood of Steels’ Power Armor.
“New weapons include an ‘AutoAxe,’ a two handled melee weapon complete with a serrated rotary blade, great for sawing through bone, and a silenced scoped automatic rifle we’ve coined ‘The Inflitrator’.”
The Pitt releases for 360 and PC only on March 24.

Fallout 3 DLC to raise level cap to 30
Speaking with Eurogamer, Fallout 3 DLC lead producer, Jeff Gardiner, said that Bethseda is going to raise the level cap from 20 to 30 when DLC, Broken Steel is released in March.
“Along with removing the game’s ‘ending’ with Broken Steel, we figure raising the level cap would allow them to [enjoy the game for longer],” he said.
“We plan on raising it to level 30 – but it will be a long, hard climb to get there!”

Bethseda details Fallout 3 DLC
Bethesda’s detailed its Fallout 3 DLC, promising that Operation Anchorage will expand the game by roughly four to five hours.
The content will cost 800 points and is pencilled in for a January release. It will see you fight the Chinese red army and liberate the town of Anchorage via an in-game simulator. The mission will focus on stealth and a new ‘Covert Ops’ perk will be available to the player.
Operation Anchorage “will include new weapons, armor and achievements! It’s full of top-secret technology used by both sides during the war, which the player will of course be able to use throughout the main game as well,” said Fallout 3 lead producer Jeff Gardiner to IGN.
