GameTrailers planning site revamp, relaunch
GameTrailers.com turns 10 this year, and in order to make the occasion special, it has decided to relaunch the site. Brad Winters, GM of GameTrailers has told GI International the site will be relaunched “from the ground up,” with a “brand-new, everything from the back-end to the new logo, a new look and feel.” The relaunch started a year ago, after noticing a “heavier year-over-year consumption,” of original content,” said Winters. Video views from GT’s original content average 40% of total monthly views, which is up from 28% in 2010 and viewers average 44 minutes per visit. The site will undergo stress-testing over the next few weeks. You an look over the upcoming changes via the site’s production blog.

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 still being worked on, Valve confirms
Don’t panic. Valve boss Gabe Newell says in the latest GTTV programe that Episode 3 really is still on the way.
“Yes, of course we’re doing Episode 3,” said the exec in response to a reader question.
Presenter Geoff Keighley pushed a little and got, “Oh, absolutely” as an answer to, “But it is still being worked on?”
So there you go. When? You’re good to wait until 2032, right?

Assassin’s Creed 2 set in the 1700s, says Pachter
During taping of an episode of GameTrailers’ Bonus Round, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michawl Pachter has apparently revealed that the time-frame for the now-confirmed Assassin’s Creed 2 has been moved from 1191 to “several hundred years in the future” or more specifically, “sometime in the 1700s.”
Pachter speculated, according to this Giant Bomb report, that the French Revolution could be the setting for the game.
Ubisoft confirmed the title was in the works last night during an earnings call.

GameTrailers gets medieval on ESRB’s ass over Fallout trailers
GameTrailers has had a bit of a rant about an ESRB order to remove Fallout 3 trailers, with staffers blasted the organisation in the site’s latest video podcast.
“They are a body made up of unqualified nincompoops,” said one. “Unfortunately, they’re taking the nanny state to the nth degree. They make the FCC look like a bunch of broad-minded, non-censorship individuals.”
GameTrailers editor-in-chief Shane Satterfield, likens the ESRB to “the frickin’ Mafia,” saying that the ratings board’s actions are part of a “power trip.”
That told them. From Gamepolitics, via Kotaku.

Keighley hammers Reggie on lack of E3 Nintendo hardcore
GTTV’s Geoff Keighley, apparently completely oblivious to the fact Nintendo boss Reggie Fils-Aime’s obviously getting annoyed, puts up a commendable barrage of hardcore-related questions to the company front man in a three-part video interview after the break, shot just after he came off the E3 stage last week.
There was an immediate backlash after the conference, during which Nintendo showed no core games at all aside from a new version of Animal Crossing.
“You keep trying to date me, you know,” Reggie said after Keighley continuely tried to get solid information on new Mario and Zelda titles. “My girlfriend’s going to get upset. You keep trying to date me. You can’t do that.”
Watch it. It’s funny.

Gametrailers: GRID video blunder was a “mistake”
Speaking to Joystiq, GameTrailers’ EIC, Shane Satterfield, has gone on the record to say that the borked comparison video that compared PS3 footage to PS3 footage – while claiming one was the 360 game – was a simple error.
“It was a mistake in our post-production process,” he said. “After we captured the footage from both versions, some of the footage of the PlayStation 3 version of the game was incorrectly placed in the bin for the Xbox 360 footage. Our video editor on this particular project is not a games person and completely overlooked the fact that he had the wrong footage in the wrong place.”
As we said at the time, shit happens. More through the link.

Gametrailers gets fried over “fake” GRID comparison
Gametrailers is experiencing something of a meltdown over a comparison trailer showing GRID’s physics – in the opinion of the masses – as superior in the game’s 360 version.
Unfortunately for the site, both videos used in the movie were from the PS3 version, as seen clearly from the controller map in the bottom of the screen.
Gametrailers has now removed the video and according to various reports is removing all comments from the site related to the issue and has disabled it’s email contact function in reaction to teh internets going shithouse mental.
Someone, of course, nabbed the video before it was removed. A genuine error? Probably. Watch it after the break. Can’t beat the internet, Gametrailers. Third law of life.
