Telltale: We have something “that’ll blow everybody’s mind”
Speaking in an interview with Shack (via D’Toid), Telltale’s Dan Connors has revealed that the studio has lined up something “that’ll blow everybody’s mind”.
Asked what would they be doing after Wallace and Gromit and Monkey Island was finished, Connors said:
“We’ve got product in production right now that we’ve been talking about but we haven’t really set a release date to. Everything else, we’re just ….we’re out in the streets, sort of talking around to different folks to figure our franchises that make real good sense for a May-June timeframe.
“Hopefully we’ll pull something in that’ll blow everybody’s mind. We’re pretty excited about the people we’re talking to, so hopefully we’ll have a pretty huge announcement here soon.”
Exciting, kids. Today’s keyword is “exciting”. Find the full interview through the first link.

Telltale announcing “new franchises” in new genres “around October”
Adventure specialist Telltale is gearing up to announce new titles “around October,” head honcho Dan Connors has told VG247 in a phone interview, and it sounds as though the studio – known for its episodic comedy titles, such as Sam & Max – is about to get more serious.
“Yes, probably in the next few months,” said Connor on the subject of when we’re going to see new Telltale series announced.
“I think there’ll be some combination of things. I think we’ll be sticking with some of the franchises we’ve worked with, and we’ll be announcing some new franchises, probably in some new genres as well, not just comedy.”
Connor went on to say that audiences had allied with TV shows such as Sopranos, True Blood and Lost thanks to their “drama” and “psychological connection,” and added that games like Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain may lead Telltale towards the same goal.
“Heavy Rain is something that really seems to be going after that sense,” he said.
“We’ve always believed that there was a chance to get there as well. We want to continue to evolve the genre. We’ve already evolved the genre in a lot of ways in what we’ve done with Sam & Max and Wallace & Gromit… but we believe there’s a lot of head-room to make more dramatic advances in storytelling and drama inside of this genre.”
We’ll have more from the interview soon.

Telltale: Natal is a “huge thing for what we’re doing”

Telltale CEO Dan Connors said the idea of being able to act in an adventure game could be made possible by Project Natal and that the full body motion sensor is a “huge thing” for what the company is doing.
“Obviously with the type of games that we make, the idea of making a person an actor inside of one of our adventures is an idea that’s been theoretical for a long time, ” he said to Videogamer. “It’s nice to see things happening that can get it closer.”
“It’s a huge opportunity to give the user more ways to interact with the world than just the traditional cursor-based and dialogue-based way in which the games work,” said Connors.
“Our focus is about creating really entertaining scenarios and characters, so removing barriers to experiencing that and making it easier and more natural to interact with, is a huge thing for what we’re doing.
“The number of ideas and types of designs that you could do around it are… it’s just the kind of thing that gets your creative teams going. For us, having the user be able to be a character in one of the worlds and solve mysteries and puzzles is a huge deal, a huge leap forward.”

Telltale doing Wallace and Gromit games
Telltale games is to release a batch of episodic titles based around Nick Park’s Wallace and Gromit franchise, the company told the AP earlier today.
The series will be called Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures and will continue the popular “clay look” from the films and TV shorts.
“We’re certainly going for the clay look with this,” CEO Dan Connors said. “Clay presents a challenge if you really get into the detail of it. For example, adding fingerprints in a medium where there aren’t any is one of the discussions of how far we should go with the game’s detail.”
Grand Adventures will feature more physical and situation-based comedy, and will likely follow the distribution model of Telltale’s episodic video game series Sam & Max, says the piece.
