Molyneux isn’t convinced by SmartGlass

Peter Molyneux may have just launched Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube? on smartphone and tablets this week, but he’s not convinced by the way tablet devices are being used by Wii U and via Xbox SmartGlass. He reckons it’s a case of tech guys running wild with ideas without thinking of the logistics.

Molyneux: ‘monetisation is slightly disgusting to talk about’

Peter Molyneux has discussed the love-hate relationship between developers and monetisation in a new interview, calling it a ‘disgusting’ discussion for studios to have. The developer’s indie studio 22 Cans has just this week launched its debut app Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube? – a game which will soon include microtransactions.

Curiosity: What’s Inside The Cube? has enjoyed a wobbly but fruitful launch day, with just under 158,000 players descending on Peter Molyneux’s box of mystery to tap away at its surface. 97 million ‘cubelets’ have been obliterated by your fingers. Good work, but there’s still much to do.

Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube? available now on iOS

Peter Molyneux’s latest game – or perhaps experiment – is available now on iDevice. Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube? challenges players to chip away at an enormous cube, exposing new layers, until finally just one lucky user removes the final layer, after which they’ll be sent a video link explaining what’s inside, which they can choose to share or not. The social experience is also expected on Facebook but has not gone live as yet.

22 Cans’ Curiosity now titled Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube

Peter Molyneux’s Curiosity will hence forth be known as Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube. The game was given a slight name change due to the name of a certain Mars rover when was launched by NASA earlier this month. Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube will release on iOS and Android next month.
