FireSky, those behind the Stargate MMO, announced on its official website that Stargate: Resistance will be released onto PC February 10.
Kind of out of left field there – for us at least.

Stargate Worlds shots are proof of life
Cheyenne Mountain MMO Stargate Worlds is so not dead. New screens today – the ones at the top – are definitely of a computer game. Here’s the dream: cling onto it.
It’s all a bit odd, this. On October 18, a rep said the “company has struggled in the current economic climate to raise the funding needed to successfully develop and publish our MMORPG.
“While there continues to be a lot of desire, enthusiasm and excitement about the project from our employees, investors and fans, we will not be able to provide any updates on the development of Stargate Worlds until sufficient funding is available.”
Nice armour though, right? Thanks, Massively.

Stargate MMO dev: “The lights here are still on”

Cheyenne Mountain marketing boss Kevin Balentine has dismissed claims that the firm’s Stargate MMO’s been flushed down the swanny, saying everything’s carrying on as planned.
One of the IPs TV producers said on Monday that the game was likely dead.
“Our official response is that the lights here are still on and the development team is working hard every day to get this game built,” Balentine told Big Download.
“Team members are in the office seven days a week to deliver Stargate Worlds. Brad Wright is the Stargate expert and a creative consultant on Stargate Worlds who advises us on the story; unfortunately we had not recently updated him on our progress or the impact from the current global economic crisis, and he was not fully aware of the continuing progress on our game.”
Phew. There’s still no date, however.

Stargate MMO – “It should be happening now if it was happening”

This doesn’t look hopeful. An executive producer of the Stargate TV series has insinuated that the licensed Cheyenne Mountain Stargate Worlds MMO is a dead duck, saying its failure to appear is “a terrible shame”.
Brad Wright, who also worked as creative consultant on the title, was questioned on the game’s status by the GateWorld fansite.
“We don’t know,” he said. “It’s a shame. If it doesn’t happen – and, let’s be honest, it should be happening now if it was happening – it’s a shame. It’s a terrible shame.”
Wright added: “They had an opportunity and they got our support, and they obviously had significant funding, and it didn’t happen.”
Whoops. More on EG.

Stargate developer can’t make payroll, issues statement
As hinted at rather bluntly on Days-Since-Cheyenne-Mountain-Employees-Have-Been-Paid.com, Stargate World developer Cheyenne Mountain is struggling to meet payroll.
Gamespot got a statement from the firm:
“At Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, we have always been upfront with the media and our fans that we are a start up. Like many start ups, we face the same cash-flow issues that all pre-revenue companies face. We have maintained a core of dedicated investors, but the new economic realities are forcing us to seek out additional sources of funding and that’s what we’re doing.
“We continue to move forward on the Stargate Worlds project. We recently completed a successful phase of closed beta testing and we will start a second phase early in 2009. We invite all of your readers to come to our site, check out our fantastic community and sign up for our beta.”
Good luck to all. TV show-based MMO Stargate Worlds has no date as yet.
