Riddick team to create Starbreeze’s Bourne game

bourne11

Starbreeze’s Riddick team is to create EA’s upcoming Bourne project.

“It is the same team that’s going to create the Bourne game that did Riddick as well as The Darkness,” Jerk Gustafsson told Eurogamer.

“We’ve already begun work. There are some personnel in a development cycle that are free a little bit earlier than others and those guys have been working on the Bourne project.

“So we’re probably still going to continue creating games the way we do, blending various gameplay elements into a good storyline. I think that’s what we do well.”

Untitled at present, the game is codenamed “P9″, and will have multiplayer capabilities.

Bourne man on EA: “We’re dealing with grown ups now”

bournea2

In a less than complimentary comment towards the now defunct Sierra, Keith Boesky, an independent agent who represents the Robert Ludlum estate, has claimed a new deal with EA means the author’s IP is now being handled by “grown ups.”

“EA came in the strongest, had the best take on the property, and they know how to grow the IP and have unquestioned worldwide market reach,” he told Variety.

“We’re dealing with grown ups now.”

Sierra published the first Bourne game, developed by High Moon, last year.

EA announced it signed a ten-year pact with the Ludlum estate yesterday.

Starbreeze is developing the first game based on the deal.

Bourne again: Activision relinquishes Bourne rights to Ludlum estate

bourne4.jpg

Bourne, we hardly knew ye. After only a single game, it seems the high-octane espionage hero is being put out to pasture as a result of the galaxy-like collision between Activision and Blizzard. Luckily, according to Variety, the license is back in the hands of its original owner: the Ludlum estate.

“The Bourne franchise is more valuable today than it was three years ago when we made the original deal with Vivendi,” said Jeffrey Weiner, CEO of Ludlum Entertainment. “This is certainly a great opportunity for us to go back out into the interactive market.”

So, anyone want a re-gifted license whose time in cinema’s spotlight has already long passed? Anyone?

New Bourne trailer released

Vivendi’s released a new trailer for Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy, to hit Europe in “2008″. Based on the films of the same name, players take on the role of Matt Damon as he tries to remember things and kills random people with impunity. Apparently, “only by playing Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy will players discover Bourne’s true identity and experience the very moment he became a malfunctioning weapon.” As long as at some point Matt says, “I don’t want to do this any more,” we’re sold.

It’s shipping for PS3 and Xbox 360. Take a look for yourself.
