The Behemoth is ofering its most faithful fans a sweet little bonus. If you own one of its existing games – Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid – you’ll unlock some extra content in BattleBlock Theater, which should hit the Xbox Live Marketplace in a few hours.

BattleBlock Theater releasing next month on XBLA
BattleBlock Theater will release on April 3, according to the latest trailer from The Behemoth. It will be made available through Xbox Live for 1200 MS Points ($15) and it will be full of technologically evil cats – as if there were any other kind – friendship, betrayal, “co-optional justice, and several other forms of visual and audible stimulation,” says the firm. We’ve been looking forward to this one for ages.

BattleBlock Theater closed beta starts at the end of the month
The Behemoth has announced the closed beta for BattleBlock will start February 28. Per Joystiq, 10,000 spots are open for those who want to try the tester, and who have an Xbox 360 with an Internet connection. Beta applications went live in January, but you can sill sign up through here. A video is below.

Battleblock Theater closed beta registrations are now open
The Behemoth Studios has announced a closed beta for Battleblock Theater. The beta for the multiplayer platformer will be open to 10,000 registrants, with testing to take place somewhere between February and March 2013. Participants must own “a working Xbox 360 that has a reliable internet connection,” and have an XBL Gold account. Other rules, restrictions and required reading apply. Interested parties can register through the official website.

BattleBlock Theater will have over 200 levels and unlockable characters
The Behemoth Studios has posted The Behemoth Studiosan update on the development of BattleBlock Theater, noting the game will contain over 200 characters to unlock, 10 unique weapontools, over 200 levels, various interactive types of blocks, online multiplayer campaign and arena modes, 30 achievements, Avatar awards, a “soundtrack created by well known artists, and members of our community,” and more. Battleblock Theater passes MS certification
The Behemoth has announced Battleblock Theater has passed Microsoft certification. Speaking with Joystiq at Comic Con, project manager Emil Ayoubkhan broke the good news. The game is about friendship, betrayal, and evil cats – which always seem to go hand-in-hand we’ve found – and was originally slated for release in 2010. According to a statement provided to VG247 from The Behemoth: “BBT does not have a release date or time frame and the correct phase that we have passed is code-complete.” So, hopefully a release date will be announced soon.
