Street Fighter Alienware tournament final kicks off in London tonight
Eurogamer and Alienware’s Street Fighter tournament – which kicked off at Eurogamer Expo back in September – is at the finals stage, and the closing bout takes place in London today. Non-participants can also attend and watch the pros slug it out for a bundle of gaming swag.

Alienware PCs to come pre-installed with Steam
Dell’s announced that all Alienware Area-51 and Aurora desktops and the M17x and M15x laptops are now to come pre-loaded with Steam and a free copy of Portal.
“Entertainment, specifically gaming, is a primary use of PCs in the home and on the road,” said Jason Holtman, director of business development at Valve.
“Alienware is a household name among PC gamers who want the most out of their hardware. The combination of Alienware hardware and Steam equals a superior gaming experience.”

Alienware “foundation” announcement is a revamped M15x
Dell’s leaked Alienware’s amazing TGS announcement – it’s a really fast, really heavy, really expensive computer. We called it.
It’s an upgraded M15x, this time, according to Engadget, including “a Core i7 processor, 15.6-inch 1920×1080 LED backlit display, a full 8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 memory, options for a traditional hard disk or SSD drive of unspecified capacity, a 2 megapixel webcam, Blu-ray disc option, Firewire, 3x USB, 1x eSATA, ExpressCard and 8-in-1 card reader slots, an optional 9-cell 86Wh battery, and DisplayPort and VGA outputs among other notables.”

Alienware’s teasing a TGS announcement it promises will “shake the gaming world to its foundation,” according to its Facebook page.
We love these Alienware launches. Let’s have a guess: will it be a really fast, really heavy, really expensive computer? We think it might.

AlienWare “all-powerful” laptop has twin GTX 280M GPUs

AlienWare’s announced the “all-powerful” laptop it’s been teasing for the last few weeks.
It’s the M17X, and it ships with a brain-melting spec of two 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPUs, a Core 2 Extreme quad-core CPU and up to 8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 memory.

Alienware plans major E3 announcement? [Update]

Update: Could this laptop be what the fuss is all about? Whether it is or not, we want one.
According to this BigDownload piece, Dell’s gaming unit – which means Alienware – will be strutting its stuff at this year’s E3.
The excitement doesn’t end there however, as the article goes on to say that the word on the street whispers there will be a major Dell/Alienware announcement at the show.

GDC: PC Gaming Alliance announced
As expected, major PC companies have announced the PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA) today at GDC, a non-profit organisation backed by Microsoft, Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, Dell/Alienware, Acer/Gatway, Activision, Epic Games and Razer. The group expects to grow throughout the year.
The idea of the Alliance is not only to promote PC gaming to the public, but to “drive developers, publishers and hardware makers.”
