Piston: Xi3 “asked to build a product specifically for Valve”
Xi3, the company behind the $1,000 Piston Steam box, has shed some light on its relationship with Valve after the latter apparently attempted to distance itself from the product today.

Valve was widely thought to have backed the Xi3 Piston micro PC – often dubbed “Steam Box”. However, Valve’s Doug Lombardi has made clear that the Seattle studio no longer has any involvement in Xi3′s dealings.

Valve-backed living room PC system debuts at CES 2013
Valve and Xi3 will today show off a modular computer designed for Steam and the big screen TV in your living room – a “Steambox”, in other words.
