Call of Duty developer getting pally with Xi3 Steam box

Infinity Ward has made a couple of mysterious references to Xi3, the Valve-backed micro PC expected to be the first of a number of Steam boxes.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer posted two pictures of an Xi3, to its Facebook and Twitter.

It gave no explanation and did not respond to queries.

Call of Duty games regularly release on PC, so it makes sense for Infinity Ward to bes testing the hardware alongside module PC components. It's quite possible the posts were made out of excitement over an unreleased bit of tech rather than bearing any particular significance; "Infinity Ward making a game for a PC" is not exactly cats lying down with dogs.

The Xi3 is a living-room focused PC which has received financial investment from Valve; founder Gabe Newell has said he expects a number of similar devices to pop up alongside the company's own hardware, the official Steambox.

Infinity Ward is almost certainly working on the next Call of Duty game for release later this year, which is heavily rumoured to be Modern Warfare 4.
