SCEE Home promises to catch up to other regions

EU PlayStation Home community manager, TedTheDog, has admitted that the game space lacks the content offered elsewhere, but promises it will get more soon.
“Let’s be honest, SCEE Home is behind the other regions in the number of spaces we have to offer,” he said on the official forums. “That’s not to say we don’t have some really good clothing and furniture, we’ve actually got some excellent partners in the shopping centre.
“In isolation we don’t think this makes SCEE Home a bad place but we fully understand the regional comparisons and why they’re made.
“In the spirit of openness being requested of us, and that we’ve committed to, we’re going to say what we’re going to do about this and in short, we’re going to switch our priorities to the production of spaces for the foreseeable future. We will continue to support our partners in the shopping centre but our primary focus will be to improve our output and range of spaces.”
He explained that Europe’s version of Home fell behind due to lack of staff resources, but more content’s on the way thanks to a new hire.
“The timeline for this is probably about the next two to four months and there is likely to be a drop in output before it starts to really pick up and improve,” he said.
SCEE plans to introduce 17 new Home spaces along with the Uncharted, Warhawk and Resident Evil 5 themes already present in other regions.

Home to get connection patch on Thursday
The Dog’s posted on the EU PS boards to confirm that Home will be patched on Thursday in an effort to get rid of the now infamous C-931 connection errors.
The app’s been plagued by the problem since it launched. The SCEE mod described the update as the “first step” in eradicating the issue.

Home not released yet due to “technical problems” – TedTheDog keeps us up to date [Update]
Update: PSN’s now down. Hold on to your hats.
Update 2: PSN’s back up, but still no home. The Dog explains, posting at 5.55pm: “Apologies for the delay in an update, you may have noticed a PSN outage in the last hour. Things seem back on track now although the outage delayed us a little we are moving again. Hope to have another update soon.”
Update 3: No Home! The Dog explains, posted at 8.15pm: “Very sorry about the delay here. The PSN outage really set us back a while but things are picking up again. And apologies for the delay in updates, I had to get home to continue with this. Looks like we’re not far off now though.”
Original post:
SCEE chap TedTheDog’s updating on the status of Home’s imminent launch on the EU PS boards, as you can see here.
The latest, posted at 4.25pm GMT:
Testing complete and a couple of technical problems have been found. We need to iron these issues out first and I’m waiting to hear how long that might take (I’m not qualified to even guess, its very technical). Apologies, I know you all want to get in but we must get these things right. And please remember, this is a beta and today is our first step into the Open Beta environment and what we’re doing today is part of the beta process itself.
SCEE said yesterday that the social app would be released this “evening,” so keep watching. Can’t be that long to go now.

SCEE ships Home beta invites en masse
Remember we told you SCEE put out 100,000 Home beta invites last week? Well, it didn’t actually happen. To cut a long story short, email problems meant the planned deluge was delayed.
Never more. Super-mod TedTheDog, speaking on the EU PS boards, has confirmed that everything’s now been sent.
In fact, we got an invite last night. Check your mail.

“Today, Friday 21st, over a hundred thousand invitations will be sent across the SCEE region and next Thursday the 27th another larger batch of invitations will be sent.
“If you are lucky enough to get an invitation then please note there will be load test event on each of the two evenings.

TedTheDog gets serious about Home open beta timing shiznit, yo
Euro PS boards SCEE mod street hero TedTheDog has posted to say Home really is just round the corner.
Version 1.0 is about to be released into the closed beta, he said. Not this week, but we’re assuming that means it’s next week. Has to be, innit.
Full thing:
Heres a rough overview of the coming weeks:
1. The version 1.0 Patch Notes will be published in the closed beta forum so they know what to expect and to help plan testing.
2. A couple of days later Version 1.0 will be released into the Closed beta. That will not happen this week.
3. SCEE will be inviting a large number of extra testers into the closed beta to load test and that process will start within a day or so of v1.0 going live. We wont invite them all straight away, we’ll ramp it up over a a period of time. We will be inviting non-English speaking testers for the first time. Languages covered will be English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Please remember these are languages, not countries, so more than the immediately obvious countries will be included to a degree. The lists have been chosen already, dont try changing your language to get included!
4. Once we start inviting people in to the Closed Beta the public SCEE Home forums will become the Home beta test forums.
5. The date of Open Beta start will be announced in advance
6. Open Beta starts and that will be just as it implies, Open to all
Just launch it, in the name of God. Prisoners on death row have an easier time waiting.

Home Beta invites will be sent out on the basis of “loyalty”
Home community manager TedTheDog demands respect. Respect for the family. The PlayStation family. If you’ve demonstrated your loyalty, you may get a Home beta invite.
“Your next question is ‘How do you decide who gets picked?’” said Boss Dog in response to a user question on the EU PS boards.
“We had a couple of plans on how that was going to be done [and] both were broadly based on the concept of loyalty. That’s very vague I know, I’ll firm up what I can but don’t expect too much detail: it was really complicated last time.
“For everyone else there’s the Open Beta, which won’t be far behind.”
The Dog Father said this morning that the beta will arrive “weeks” after the next issue of Qore ships.
Thanks, CVG.

Home open beta to go live “weeks” after next Qore issue
We are quite literally almost there. According to this post from a SCEE mod on the EU PS boards, the Home open beta will go live “within weeks” of the release of Qore’s next issue.
“We’ll be sending our invites once v1.0 is live,” said the now infamous Home community manager, TedTheDog.
“Understand that SCEA’s motivation to reward annual subscribers to QORE is a little different to our motivation to do a load test before Open Beta.
“Please don’t worry though: we here at SCEE really do have a lot of invites to send and Open Beta will be along within weeks of that as well.”
We’re not entirely sure when the next issue of Qore’s out, if we’re being honest, but we’d say the chances of you having a virtual chair on your PlayStation 3 in November are high.
