Sony has posted a reminder letting folks know that the Starhawk multiplayer beta will be open to everyone with a PSN account tomorrow, February 22. The firm also stated that in the coming weeks the tester will be updated “a lot” and to expect new maps, vehicles, 32-player max matches, and “more.” Tips on how to report bugs, how to get involved in the beta, as well as a layout of the game’s control scheme and the Scourge map can be found over on the PS Blog. A video announcing the public beta has been released and is posted below.

Sony has announced a Starhawk Limited Edition is available for pre-order through GameStop, and anyone who pre-orders the game will receive this instead of the standard edition for no extra charge – plus it comes with a download code for Warhawk.

Sony has announced that the public beta for StarHawk will start next week for Plus members. Lightbox has said the beta is a “crucial step”, as the game’s balancing, server traffic, and general bugs issues will all the tested. The beta for Plus members starts in the US on Tuesday, January 17 and in Europe on Wednesday, January 18. Full public access starts on February 21 and  22. A schedule showing how and when the rest of the PS3 community can participate is posted below.

Sony’s announced it’s to keep open the closed beta of Starhawk throughout Christmas before closing it once and for all on January 3. The Lightbox and Sony Santa Monica effort will then go into open beta, with dates for its launch to come in the “next few weeks,” Sony Santa Monica producer Harvard Bonin said on the EU PS Blog. Players can gain access to the open tester with codes that came with their copy of Uncharted 3.

Sony’s released a brand new trailer for Starhawk. The video for the Lightbox Entertainment title shows for the first time in large detail the space combat battles that are within the game: on food, mechs and, naturally, in the jets themselves. This is a very hot looking video, as you’ll discover below the break. Get to it, children.

Sony’s announced details of the next PlayStation Access event in Bristol, confirming that Uncharted 3, Starhawk and Ratchet & Clank: All4One, as well as the recently-released Resistance 3, will all be playable on the first-party front. Third-party titles that will be playable include Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, FIFA 12, Dark Souls, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Goldeneye 007: Reloaded.

The event takes place from September 29 until October 1, with Lethal Bizzle peforming on both Friday and Saturday. More info on getting tickets for Access can be found on its Facebook page.

We’re yet to see much direct-feed Starhawk gameplay, but this testimonial reel out of last month’s San Diego Comic-Con goes some way to rectify that.

Harvard Bonin, senior producer at Santa Monica Studio has posted a new behind-the-scenes video for Starhawk over on the PS Blog. It’s also posted below. In it you’ll get “insights into how we created our universe and story, as well as background thoughts on Emmett from the team at LightBox.” You will also see snippets of the game’s animated cut-scenes in the video as well. The game is due on PS3 in 2012.
