Lewie’s Weekly Deals – Splinter Cell: Conviction, Mafia II, Alan Wake for £10

alanwake4

I’m afraid my weekly pick of gaming deals is going to be overshadowed by deals that aren’t even available yet.

Through a combination of intrepid investigation and reading press releases, I’ve deduced that at some point over the next week Amazon are probably going to be selling the Black Nintendo Wii bundle (with Wii Sports Resort and a Wii Motion Plus) for under £72, and the 250Gb Xbox 360 for under £80.

I’ve got a guide to the first day of the Amazon UK Black Friday sale already posted here, and keep your eyes glued to SavyGamer.co.uk for guides for each day.

But I’m not going to let Amazon completely steal my thunder. Check after the break for a bunch of great deals that are available this very second. It’s going to be legen, wait for it…

Shaba closed, Acti confirms

spidermanwos2

Activision’s confirmed that Spider-Man: Web of Shadows developer Shaba is now more, following rumour reports earlier this week.

“Activision continually evaluates the resources at our studio properties to ensure that they are properly matched to our product slate and overall strategic goals,” said a statement from the publisher.

“As part of this process, we recently made the difficult but necessary decision to close Shaba Studios. We are grateful for the studio’s contributions and wish this talented team success in their future endeavours.”

All the best, chaps. More on GI.

Report: Shaba shuttered in Acti cutbacks

spiderman

Kotaku’s reporting that Spider-Man: Web of Shadows dev Shaba’s been closed by Activision.

Apparently some 30 staffers were dropped in the move, which follows similar cuts at 7-Studios earlier this week.

To those that no longer make Spider-Man games: we salute you.

Jaffe: Make Spider-Man: Web of Shadows more interesting

spidermanwos2.jpg

David Jaffe, ex-director of God of War, has told Shaba Games, the firm behind upcoming Spider-Man game, Web of Shadows, to add variety to the title’s missions. As you do.

Speaking on his blog, Jaffe asked for developer to ditch the “open sandbox” system, saying that the variations of the basic mission types on offer were “pretty dull”, broken up only by the occasional boss battle or unique mission.

In an accurate piece of criticism about the recent games, he opined that Spider-Man should be all about the powers, and that Shaba should concentrate more on the story and characters.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows video shows combat

After the link. It doesn’t look like the worst thing in the world, if we’re being honest. The video’s a dev diary-type affair featuring the chaps from Shaba Games talking about the next Spider-Man title’s ground-wall-air combat concept. Looks like it works.

No date or platform on this as yet.

New Spider-Man – first shots

spidermanwos.jpg

On CVG. Activision’s unveiled its new Spider-Man game, Web of Shadows, which apparently centres on the fact web-boy has two suits instead of one. There’s a black suit and a red suit. See? It’s being developed by Shaba and there’s no release date on it as far as we can see. “This year” on “all platforms” is probably a safe bet.

Take a look.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows – first video

There’s been a bit of to-and-froing tonight about whether or not Activision’s announced the next in its Spider-Man games, but it’s been pretty much settled by this movie for Spider-Man: Web of Shadows on IGN. No details yet, but expect something approaching a press release in the coming days.
