Evo 2009 confirmed for Las Vegas in July

Evo 2009 will take place on July 17-19 in Las Vegas, the event’s confirmed.
The tournament-heavy gathering focuses solely on fighting games, the roster this year including Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Soulcalibur IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core and Street Fighter III: Third Strike.

Soulcalibur IV sells 2 million units
According to this CNG4U translation, Namco’s announced 2 million Soulcalibur IV sales.
The game’s been on sale for a week, releasing on July 29 in North America, July 31 in Japan and August 1 in Europe.
Chart-Track confirmed the fighter as a UK number one this week.

Soulcalibur IV tops UK chart
Chart-Track figures show souls-and-swords fighter Soulcalibur IV entered the UK software charts at the number one position for the week ending August 2.
Movie tie-in WALL-E fell to fourth place from second, and Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training is still in the charts after all this time, holding onto a generous ninth place. Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures fell down five places to settle in at number ten.

“No plan” for SCIV Star Wars characters to cross platforms, says director
Speaking to MSXbox World, Soulcalibur IV director Katsutoshi Sasaki has said there are no plans to bring Vader to the fighter’s 360 version or Yoda back the other way, despite the fact an amazingly authentic movie leaked last week suggests he may be talking porky pies.
“There is no plan for that so far,” he said. “I can understand that the fans have interests in the dream battle⦠So we are trying to distribute appealing DL contents, but we want you to know that we have prepared huge volume of gameplay which will satisfy everyone who purchases the game.”

Soulcalibur IV gets 35/40 in Famitsu
According to this CNG4U piece, Famitsu’s given Soulcalibur IV a bone-crunching 35/40.
The game’s releasing on August 1 in the UK, and is looking fine from where we’re standing. Anyone that wants to play us online will, of course, lose. Let us know if you fancy it.
