Sega will trade exclusivity deal for Shenmue III funding

Sega’s apparently said in the latest issue of Famitsu 360 that it would develop Shenmue III as a platform exclusive – provided the relative hardware manufacturer paid for it.

Shenmue III at E3? “No comment”
Sega’s just issued on a “no comment” on rumours last week that Shenmue III is to be shown at this year’s E3.
For what it’s worth – and before you all start frothing at the mouth, digging out your Ryu codpieces and waiting for buses for days on end – we would be extremely surprised it this were true.
The original talk about a new version of the game came from a Meristation report, which speculated that a newly-acquired Unreal Engine license by Sega was to create a third Shenmue game.
We have nothing more to add.

Rumour: Shenmue III for E3 (omglolwtf)
Jesus. There’s no need for this. Spanish site Meristation’s rumouring that the game Sega recently signed an Unreal Engine license extension for is Shenmue III, and that the game will be on show in some form at E3.
We’ve left Sega a voicemail. We expect to get laughed at later on today.
