Persona series hits 1.65 million sales in Japan
According to information released by Atlus parent company Index Holding, the Persona series as a whole has sold 1.65 million units in Japan alone. The Persona development team, following work on Catherine earlier this year, is working on Persona 5 while going Persona 4 mental: a Vita re-release of the PS2 original will appear next year in Japan, as will a PS360 fighter from Arc Systems and a Japanese social game.
Thanks, Siliconera.

New Atlus teaser site hints at something Persona related
Atlus has opened a new teaser site in Japan, but not much else. The site contains the URL p-atlus.jp with a yellow background and Persona-style front. By the by, Persona 4 was heavy on the yellow. Are we about to see Persona 4 Portable announced? Considering the past three games in the series have now made their way to PSP – the second is releasing this fall in Europe via Ghostlight – we wouldn’t be surprised. We hope so anyways.
Thanks, Andriasang.

Persona PSP’s digital release delayed in North America

Atlus just sent over a note telling us that Persona PSP’s digital release won’t be making its originally scheduled date. Instead, it’ll be ready to go a week after the game’s September 22 retail release.
“While we’d previously announced that a digital version would be available at launch (on 9/22) along with the retail UMD version, it will in fact slip a few days until 10/1/09,” said Atlus.
However, the publisher added that the brick-and-mortar edition will include all sorts of collector’s content – like a jam-packed soundtrack CD – for no additional fee.
We hate waiting and love music. Sounds like a no-brainer to us.

Persona 3 coming to PSP
The remake for the first game is not even out the door yet for the PSP and they seem to have skipped 2, yet Atlus are porting Persona 3 for the PSP from the PS2 – that’s according to the latest issue of Famitsu.
There’s not much there in the way of info except that the port will have a new female playable character.
No date yet.
Scans over at the Examiner.

Persona to launch simultaneously on PSN and at retail

Atlus has announced that Shin Megami Tensei: Persona will launch simultaneously on both PSN and in stores September 22 for $40.
The 1997 remake has a reworked interface, fully localized script, voice work exclusive to the North American release, an expanded soundtrack and faster battles.
PSP version features some balance adjustments and new animated sequences by Devil May Cry 3′s Kazuma Kaneko.
Even better, retail copies of Person include a two-disc score composed by Shoji Meguro – but as a boxed version, this will only be made available for a limited time.
Still, great news for fans of Persona.
Thanks, Gamespot.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona gets fall date for North America

Atlus announced today via a lovely mailer that Shin Megami Tensei: Persona for PSP will be released in North America this fall.
The remake has a completely redone localization along with content never before seen in the US.
Gameplay enhancements and additions have also been added to the RPG, as well as a two-disc soundtrack.
Great news, that.

Persona gets PSP intro video, looks good

Japan will get Persons for PSP in just 12 days, and to celebrate, Atlus has released the remake’s intro video – which is great, aside from the music.
Reminds us of the title track to an 80s ski-movie.
Watch it below.

New Persona PSP trailer released

There’s a new Persona PSP trailer after the break, showing gameplay and cutscenes.
Chances are you already know if you’re going to be getting this, but it doesn’t hurt to look.
So do. Thanks, Destructoid. It’s out in the US this year.

Persona remake to launch in US this year

Atlus just confirmed that its PSP remake of Persona will launch in the US in 2009.
That’s it. It’s out this autumn. We’re not sure, but it’s likely you’re going to be whistling for it, Europe. Press release through the link.
Thanks, Hunam.

Four new Persona PSP movies appear

After the break. The RPG remake ships in Japan in April, and there’s no news of this coming west.
There’s no voice acting in the game at all, from the look of it, so an English translation for the US isn’t the most ridiculous thing to imagine.
Take a look. From Siliconera, via Destructoid.

PSP Persona not a port, but not a remake either

We’re pretty sure it’s still a game, though – and by the looks of things, a damn good one. Siliconera opened up their Nihongonomicon and gave us the scoop.
According to a translated listing from Japanese retailer Rakuten, Persona’s PSP edition will include new animated movies, a soundtrack rearranged by Persona 3’s composer, and new dungeons.
The game’s difficulty, on the other hand, is feeling a wee bit less fierce after getting hit with the shrink ray, and will further be utterly emasculated by extra save points and a quick save option.
Still sounds rad, though. More through the link.
