First Medium screen found in the wild

20120709medium_hr

According to Destructoid, the image through the break is our first glimpse of Medium, a mysterious new offering from Bloober Team. What makes this particularly interesting is that Bloober Team hosts the remains of shuttered developer Nibris, which was working on Sadness, a highly anticipated psychological horror for Wii which never happened. Medium was announced pre-E3 and expected on Android, iDevice, PC, Xbox 360 and possibly PlayStation 3, Vita and Wii U, but we don’t know a blessed thing about it beyond the fact that it boasts a “completely new model of gameplay”.

Sadness developer Nibris may appear at E3

sadness

Polish developer Nibris has updated its YouTube page with a statement saying that it will appear at E3 this year.

Funnily enough, it said the same thing about GDC 08 and never showed up. This caused the company to be accused of developing “vapourware” instead of an actual game.

Not so, said Sadness’ ex-scriptwriter Adam Artur Antolski. Turns out the game is real and the developers are still using some of the storyline and concepts Antolski came up with.

“When [I was] contacted [to start work], there was only a title – Sadness,” he said. “In about three or four days I come up with some ideas, which evolved into a script.

“We actually wanted to make a interactive movie, and there was couple of other ideas as well. When I was leaving, there was only one 3D object – some train cart I believe, which says a lot for me, most of the time Sadness was science-fiction.”

Sadness was first announced at E3 2006.

Full thing over on N-Europe.

Rumour: Nibris has DS Sadness in the works

sadness3.jpg

A rumor has surfaced at nintendofanalliance that Nibris is working on a Sadness game for DS.

It’s apparently called Sadness: The Children of the Dark, and will be done in third-person and in full color. None of this has been confirmed by Nibris yet, but keep an eye on the firm’s website next week, suggests that piece.

Sadness is real, says creator

sadness4.jpg

According to this Wiicast interview with Fog Studio’s Adam Spencer, Wii survival horror Sadness is on track, in the works, full steam ahead, definitely not a load of bollocks.

“Obviously there’s only so much I can say,” Spencer told the site. “I can tell you for sure that the project is real, they’re actively developing it. There’s no publisher for the game yet and as such it’s impossible for us to say when the game is going to be released. Basically, that’s the official statement.

“Nibris is doing an overhaul to their official site now. Next week they’re supposed to launch it and there will be some added information and a couple screenshots.”

So there we are. Hopefully we’ll get a less nebulous update soon.

Another 27 Sadness shots

sadness3.jpg

They’re on XGN.nl. There’s a lot of photography going on there, and it is, indeed, all in black and white. It doesn’t look wildly horrific, if we’re being honest, but we haven’t played it so we should just shut out cynical mouths. See for yourself.

The Wii frightener was formally announced announced today. More details here.

Wii horror Sadness announced: first shot

sadness.jpg

Gamebryo’s formally announced Sadness, the black and white Wii horror game.

The title’s set during WWI and is developed by Polish outfit Nibris. It’s been causing a bit of a stir on the world’s forums because it looks, you know, interesting and it’s on Wii.

“Without a doubt, Gamebryo is the most powerful engine available for the Wii. After getting familiar with the engine several months ago we made the decision to choose Gamebryo. Since then, our team has been working on Sadness and we are quite impressed,” said Nibris product manager Tomasz Wisniowski. “We will have quite a few graphical effects in our game, which some believe are impossible to attain on the Wii. Gamebryo helped make it possible. We are firmly convinced we made the right choice.”

Press release and first shot after the link.
