Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death is now available through Xbox Live Arcade and PC. The game is an homage to blockbuster films, comic book heroes, and action games with its focus on “relentless high-octane combat, exotic and danger-filled environments and epic set pieces.” Plus, it has its tongue placed firmly inside its cheek. Players take on the role of Marlow Briggs, a no-nonsense hero who has “never shied away from danger or trouble,” as he runs about Central America in a quest to defeat an industrial evil. To make matters worse – or more exciting, depending – he is bound to an ancient Mayan Death Mask sidekick “who’s had no-one to talk to for 2000 years.” Awesome. Developed by Zootfly, Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death is available now for £9.99. Launch trailer is below.

Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death has leaked, apparently. The game first popped up in January through a trademark listing. Shots of the leaked images can be found on NeoGAF which lists it as an XBLA title. Sadly, all we know about it at the moment can be found through the leaked images. Once we know more we will let you know.

Microsoft filed a trademark application for “Marlow Briggs” on January 24 with the USPTO, and the application cites “game software” as the description. No other information was found in the application, but a representative for the firm told Gamespot it “often acquires various trademarks as part of its ongoing business strategy,” and beyond that it had no comment. This is the second games-related trademark dug up for the firm in the last two weeks, the other was “Gunpowder”. Let the speculation begin. We’re sure it’s not a sink, though.
