Tom Bissell and Rob Auten writing the script for Gears of War: Judgment

Karen Traviss will not be penning the script for Gears of War: Judgment, according to Eurogamer, but will instead be penned by Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter author Tom Bissell and Rob Auten. Bissell authored the Gears of War 3 art book which came with the Collector’s Edition of the game and is currently co-authoring a book about the Tommy Wiseau film, The Room. Auten has worked with Twentieth Century Fox as a consultant and other credited work includes Avatar and two Aliens games.

Next Halo novel to have ties with Halo 4

Tor Books has announced the next Halo novel, called The Thursday Wars. Written by known Halo author and Gears of War 3 writer Karen Traviss, the book will set up the events around Halo 4, according to 343′s Frank O’Connor.

It’s out on October 2, just over a month before Halo 4 launches worldwide on November 6. Thanks, D’Toid.

New Halo novel to launch in October

Tor Books has announced that the sequel to Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, known as Glasslands, will release on October 25. The book, written by Gears of War 3 pen Karen Traviss, will tell the events of the Halo Universe following what happened at the end of Halo 3. Tor’s also released the cover fro the book as well, which you can get at Joystiq.

Gears of War and Splinter Cell get new novels

Remember “reading”? It’s great. Double good news arrives today, then, in the form of a new novels for Splinter Cell and Gears of War.

The Gears of War book’s called Jacinto’s Remnant and is now out priced $15. It’s written by Karen Traviss and continues from the end of the second game.

The Splinter Cell novel’s actually called Conviction, and launches on October 27, according to VGB. It’s yours for $10.

First of three Gears novels for October release

Ballantine Books is to release a set of three Gears of War novels, the publisher’s announced, the first of which will hit the US in October.

Gears of War: The Battle of Aspho Fields, written by New York Times bestselling author Karen Traviss, will go on sale on October 28.

“After finishing the first Gears of War game, players were left wanting to know more about Delta Squad and the events leading up to Emergence Day,” said Epic Games’ boss Michael Capps.

“This trilogy of novels opens up whole new worlds of storytelling opportunities, and will add even more context to the upcoming comic book series, game sequel and motion picture. We loved Karen Traviss’ work on the Republic Commando series, and we can’t wait to get her Gears book to our fans.”
