Civilization V lead designer Jon Shafer has started a Kickstarter for his turn-based strategy game set during the fall of Rome titled At the Gates.

Shafer “very confident about where things are going” with Stardock’s Elemental
Jon Shafer has said the main reason he left Civilization developer Firaxis and took a job with Stardock was because of the fun and unique approach to creating games the firm’s CEO Brad Wardell harbors.

Stardock has revealed that it’s hired Civilization V lead designer Jon Shafer to design and implement mod support for Elemental.

Civilization’s new design lead on combat evolved
God only knows how many otherwise productive hours of people’s lives the Civilization series has stolen over its 20-year history. That turn-based structure is a work of time-sapping genius. Civilization V to allow imports of Civilization IV maps
Civilization V is to come with mod and editing tools, as well as having the ability to import maps from Civilization IV.
