Update: Spanish site Meristation’s given it 7/10.
Update 2: Famitsu’s given it 32/40. Thanks, Psychotext.
Square’s confirmed to VG247 that 360 RPG Infinite Undiscovery is indeed out on Friday in Europe, following news overnight that the game’s shipped in the US.
The first review’s just gone up, in addition. Team Xbox has given the game 7.8/10, describing it as a “JRPG-lite.” Snip:
In retrospect, it’s probably not completely fair to compare Infinite Undiscovery to the FF franchise. Infinite Undiscovery is more of a gateway RPG than an all-out epic; real-time combat, less story-driven side activities/exploring and a shorter overall play time allow easy access for the JRPG n00bs. There are a few technical hiccups to get over, but Infinite Undiscovery is still a worthwhile romp for those looking for a JRPG-lite in 2008. Of course, if you want the full-meal deal, steer clear of Infinite Undiscovery and look forward to the 360 versions of Star Ocean or Final Fantasy XIII.

Square’s announced its E3 line-up, and it contains a few surprises.
As well as The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery and Star Ocean: The Last Hope, the firm will show Star Ocean: First Departure and Star Ocean: Second Evolution, both for PSP.
Taito’s Exit DS and The Legend of Kage 2, again for DS, will also be shown.
Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest The Chapters of the Chosen, FFIV and iPod game Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes make up the rest of the list,
FFXIII isn’t mentioned, but we know it’s going to have presence at the LA show next week.

After the break you’ll find a video of the first four minutes of Square Enix 360 JRPG Infinite Undiscovery. Looks “OK”. Can’t quite work out if it’s shot off a screen or if it’s direct feed, but there’s a lot of Japanese talking over the top of it, as if it’s from a presentation. Take a look, anyway. Game’s out before the end of the year. Via Kotaku.
Update: There are two parts to this demo, and you can watch them both on Gamersyde. And it is direct feed, apparently. Thanks, Blerk.

On Gamersyde. The Square Enix RPG still looks pretty, and is still coming out this year for 360, so that’s two good things for a Tuesday morning. Take a look.

On Jeux-France. The Square Enix RPG’s releasing for Xbox 360 in Europe before the end of the year, which is amazing, frankly. These screens look as though they’ve been nicked from somewhere else, but that’s the internet for you.

Infinite Undiscovery has a whole lot of new, but there are also a few staple elements that we’ve come to expect from a Square Enix game. While the game isn’t so hot on a technical level, with a less-than-ideal framerate, the art direction alone makes this a true looker. The visual experience is particularly inspired during the sweeping CG intro, which begins by following a bird through that massive city tower we’ve seen in all the trailers, giving a feel for how big the tower really is.
Have a read. The game’s out in September.

After the link. All these trailers came out of this morning’s Xbox 360 RPG Premiere 2008 event in Tokyo.
As reported earlier, Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery will both release in Europe this year for 360, with Star Ocean 4 – now officially titled Star Ocean: The Last Hope – will make it over here next year.
Take a look.

Press release after the link. All this information was announced this morning in Tokyo, but all this stuff’s directly related to Europe. One interesting point there is that Star Ocean’s not listed as an Xbox 360 exclusive – whereas Infinite Undicovery is – and no other platforms are mentioned.
Take a look.
Update: The issue of Star Ocean’s platforms has been clarified on IGN. From the site:
Square Enix producer Yoshinori Yamagishi cleared things up during a roundtable interview session that followed the press conference. Asked if the game is 360-only, he said, “We cannot announce anything on that. We can say that it will be released first [on the Xbox 360]. Whether we’ll release it on the PS3 is undecided. We may release it, we may not.”

The game is developed by tri-Ace, the firm responsible for the likes of Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile.

Square Enix and Tri-Ace have finally released some details and screenshots of their Xbox 360 exclusive JRPG, Infinite Undiscovery.
Find scans here. Read tons of details – real-time battle system, chained attacks, plot outline, etc – after the link.
Apparently this is coming out this summer, although we’re not sure where. Some very nice art going on there, so well worth a look.
